Kayla Jackson is a Canadian Artist.
Kayla Jackson is a painter from Caledon, Ontario. Her acrylics and oils are inspired by her experiences ‘en plein air’ (painting outdoors). She has crafted illustrations to promote Visit Caledon's Culture Days' Studio Tour, seen in the Fall 2024 issue of In The Hills Magazine, and the Badlands cover of the Caledon, Hockley Valley and Mono Mills edition of local author Nicola Ross's Loops and Lates series. She has been awarded Orangeville Banner’s Readers’ Choice Award for Best Local Visual Artist.
Working from her home studio or outdoors, Jackson’s landscapes capture the immediate emotion and light of countryside landscapes. Her ‘Garden Shed’ (12 x 16 inch acrylic on canvas) was selected as a finalist in the 2021 Into Nature International Plein Air Competition in Minnesota at the White Bear Centre for the Arts.
Kayla has completed a Bachelor of Illustration from Sheridan College following four years of intensive visual arts training at Mayfield Secondary School’s Regional Arts Program. Kayla has exhibited in various group shows, including ‘Illustrative Drawing and Painting’ at Artscape Youngplace in Toronto and she co-curated the second annual “Work in Progress’ exhibition at Joshua Creek Heritage Arts Centre in Oakville in 2019.
In her premier solo exhibition ‘Vivid Moments, Vivid Memories’ in 2021, Jackson amassed over 60 paintings of the historical buildings in her hometown for display at the Alton Mill Arts Centre. Her current fine art work focuses on the texture and emotional gravity of every day countryside scenery.
